I really do enjoy watching movies of these actors and I have watched all of the movies listed above multiple times. For example Nani’s performance as Varun in Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu and as Suri in Bheemli Kabbadi Jattu was far more superior than Pawan Kalyan’s performance as Gabbar Singh, and Allu Arjun’s performance in Vedam respectively.
With the exception of some of the performances in the movies listed above, all other performances do not really deserve the award given to them. Its true that almost all these movies did great business, but that does not necessarily mean that their performance was the best. If you look at the list of one of the most popular awards in the industry for the past ten years, every single award for best performance male went to an actor who belongs to one of the influential families in the industry. And to add insult to injury, these people with their mediocre performances end up winning awards, while the truly gifted actors have to struggle to get popular production houses to pick their projects for funding.īest actor awards in the state have become a joke. Like having the title is not enough, thanks to their connections they also start of with a hefty paycheck, and even after over a dozen mediocre performances they still end up retaining the title as well as their paychecks. But now, thanks to the nepotism prevalent in the industry, every Tom, Dick and Harry has a title even before their first movie hits the theaters.
There was a time when actors earned titles such as Superstar or Megastar after years of delivering super hit movies and performances. Such hero-worship and titles are understandable, if the actor had earned that love and respect through their hard work. You are odd if you do not have a favorite actor. People here love their actors with a passion, that you will not see anywhere in the world. Anyone who is familiar with the telugu film industry knows how passionate the people here are about cinema, telugu cinema in particular.
